The story up until now...

SARAN is a folk and Americana singer-songwriter from Tullysaran, County Armagh, whose music blends the storytelling traditions of folk with the soul of country and the grit of the blues. Influenced by the songwriting of John Prine, the musicianship of Doc Watson, and the spirit of Van Morrison, he crafts songs that explore themes of love, loss, return, and the winding paths that bring people together and apart.

Known for the intimacy of his live performances and the energy he and his band bring to the stage, SARAN has spent more than fifteen years performing across Ireland, Europe, and the United States. His travels have taken him to stages in Lopera, Berlin, New York, Dublin, and Belfast, while closer to home, he has appeared in sold-out productions and performances at venues including the Grand Opera House Belfast, the Black Box, the Market Place Theatre, and, most recently, a sold-out show with his blues band, The Boogie Monsters, at Abbey Lane Theatre in Armagh.

A versatile musician, SARAN has experience in live performance, pit work, studio recording, and music education. His original songs draw inspiration from personal experiences, reflections on the modern world, and the stories of those he encounters along the way. His music has received airplay on Dundalk FM and continues to connect with audiences through its honesty, warmth, and storytelling.

SARAN's achievements include winning Gold at the Armagh County Fleadh, Silver at the Ulster Fleadh, and qualifying for the All-Ireland Fleadh on saxophone. He was awarded Senior Traditional Musician of the Year in consecutive years at St. Patrick's Grammar School and was named Student of the Year by the Southern Regional College Music Department in 2025. During his time at SRC, he helped lead fundraising efforts that raised more than £4,500 to support a performance and recording project in Berlin.

Committed to developing his craft, SARAN has been mentored by Gareth Dunlop, Matt McGinn, Ciaran Lavery, Matt Curran, David Lyttle, and Brian Finnegan.

Alongside performing with six different musical projects, SARAN teaches the next generation of musicians through Baker Street School of Music. Following the completion of his ambitious trilogy of EPs — Roots, Branches, and Leaves— recorded over just 19 weeks, he is preparing to release three new EPs that continue his exploration of story, place, and human connection.

Whether performing in a theatre, a festival tent, or a packed local venue, SARAN remains committed to creating music that is heartfelt, authentic, and rooted in the belief that every life has a story worth telling.
